"In every person the best, the most important part is that which remains from childhood." - George Balanchine
In Moving Minds Dance classes, we want students to experience the playful joy of their childhood as a foundation for the lessons they will need as adults.
For two years, Megan Snow and Flourish Dance Project offered wonderful classes at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center with a vision of bringing together a community in West Seattle that "values the joy, artistry and sense of belonging that dance can nurture."
I was honored to be part of the teaching staff charged with bringing that vision to life, and when Megan announced the end of the project, it was a natural impulse for me to act to keep that spirit alive. While we're starting small, we plan to expand our class offerings as we grow and start offering creative movement for tots, modern dance, and a wide variety of programming for dancers of all ages.
Moving Minds Dance seeks to build on Flourish's vision of dance, artistry, and neighborhood. I truly believe that providing young people with movement opportunities that inspire their sense of joy, wonder, and creative intelligence can vitalize the whole community.
I hope you'll dance with us!
