Teaching Philosophy and Integrated Learning
Our community classes provide students with strong technique in line with professional training programs, but our classes focus on so much more than dance. We bring the rest of the world into the classroom. Through dance, we have learned about:
We firmly believe in inclusive community, and putting the focus on movement. Our classes have a relaxed dress code that encourages students to be their own full, creative, brilliant selves. Our teachers use positive, supportive methods to ensure EVERY student feels safe, seen, and welcome in class.

Each season, our community classes incorporate an academic or real-world theme in a developmentally appropriate way. This year, join us for:
Building Inclusive Community with Social-Emotional Intelligence (Fall)
This Fall, we will be honing our social and emotional skills, learning to build strong relationships, care for ourselves and each other, and become active members of inclusive communities.
Physical Science and Kinesiology (Winter)
This Winter, we will investigate how science rules the dance studio and the world around us in a way that is developmentally appropriate for each age level.
Storytelling, Poetry, and Literacy (Spring)
This Spring, we will dive into the magic of storytelling and literacy as we create dances inspired by the books we love.
Nature and Geography (Summer)
What better way to get to know nature than to dance in it? Our summer camps our outside every year, and our evening classes will bring the natural world into the studio.

Locations
We are proud to work with with the Associated Recreation Council and Seattle Parks Department to provide classes at community centers throughout Seattle. The community center system is a vibrant and valuable part of our municipal culture, and we have loved being part of these strong community spaces since 2013. We have also been thankful to be part of the inspiring and forward-thinking community at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center. While we will not be holding our classes there this year, we are looking forward to being there for our community performances at the end of each season.
